Since I am working on the next news article, as a follow-up to "Shamefully Underfaved", I thought I'd devote this week's journal to the kind of photos that you just can't look away from.
I've only been taking photographs for a couple of months, but I've been preparing to learn for the last forty years. I started out as a child, in Australia, collecting beautiful travel photos. I'd cut them out of brochures and keep them in a notebook. As an adult, I graduated to the more expensive travel books. The internet opened up new opportunities to study the works of the best photographers in the world. My favorite sites to browse, outside of DA, are pbase.com and trekearth.com.
One of the best ways to improve as a photographer and artist is to ask yourself why the photo looks so great. Study the colors and composition, the perspective and the subject of the photo. Is it something refreshingly different? If you keep going back to great works of art and doing this, I guarantee that your own work will keep improving, whether it is in photography, traditional or digital art.
I hope that this collection will be an inspiration to artists of every genre.

Since there have been many things conspiring to keep me off the internet for the past five months, I could not have made this article without the help of several people. If there are categories that are not included or are not well represented, please send me suggestions for the next "Shamefully Underfaved". This article has been five months in the making, so some of the deviations may have gone over the "50 faves" limit that I set for myself. I haven't had time to go through them all to check, but they are all worth a look.
The following artists suggested deviations for this article:
