Schizophrenia is a serious illness that affects the lives of everyone around the victim of this terrible thing. For years its sufferers were stigmatized and demonized. It can be controlled with medications and counseling. This is a tribute to my son's girlfriend, who takes care of a family member with this problem.

This is a fantastic piece of art, very different & creative, not to mention a wonderful tribute to your son's girlfriend. It can be a hard thing, & often thankless too, taking care of a family member with a serious mental condition. I know, to a small degree, my dad was bi-polar. She has my deepest respect.

Thank-you so much! I know all about bi-polar, since I has wreaked havoc in my family. Being borderline, I always thought I'd escaped any problems with it, but ended up having to take medicine for it about ten years ago. It may not be as debilitating as schizophrenia, but it's still difficult for the family to deal with.

I'm sorry if I sounded critical in any way, I didn't mean to. Being bi-polar is just as hard on the person who has the condition as the family members & I apologize if I seemed cold or critical in any way.

No, you didn't come across as critical at all. I was just recognizing that you had experience dealing with problems in your family that are just as challenging. That gives you more empathy.
