I almost uploaded this under "Tutorials", but since I have problems teaching my dog to stay off the furniture, I hesitated, not quite ready to think of myself as a teacher of any kind. This is probably intermediate, assuming you have a basic understanding of working with traps, including masking and texturing them.

If you want to use the parameters in UF5, you'll need to GO HERE to download the associated texture and put it in your UltraFractal Images folder.

Hollow Trap Illusion:

I was playing around with an idea to make traps look like they are hollow, using the point trap in dmj Orbit Traps. I'm posting the parameters in case anybody wants to try this out. I had to double mask the cutout because the background consists of two layers. To make the cutout trap smaller you have to change the threshold size. I changed the texture of the trap before uploading the image so the parameters will give you a different texture. You can download the final version of the texture here. I had to turn it into a fractal in UF 5.

You should also be able to see how to make highlight and shadow layers for your traps.

Highlight the following, starting with the name and ending with the right bracket. Then, paste in any open fractal window. If you have any problems with this, send me a note.
